Name: Anthony Joseph
New title: President and chief administrative officer, White Castle
Previous title: Chief administrative officer and general counsel, White Castle
Joseph has worked at White Castle since 2016 and has led the legal, risk management, organizational development, technology and corporate relations segments, according to a Tuesday press release. In his new role, he will also oversee White Castle’s retail and manufacturing divisions. He will be the first non-family member to hold this position in White Castle’s history and he is taking over the role from Lisa Ingram, who will remain CEO and board chair.
“[Joseph’s] leadership of our strategic planning process and great ability to build highly successful teams will serve us well as he takes on the additional responsibilities as president,” Ingram said in a statement.
Prior to joining White Castle, Joseph worked over 15 years at food and beverage company Concessions International, where he served as general counsel and then president. He has also been on the board of the National Restaurant Association.
White Castle has been growing its retail division for many years. In 2021, it sold its 6 billionth retail slider and broke ground on a multimillion-dollar expansion of its plant in Vandalia, Ohio. That 150,000-square-foot facility supplies sliders to retailers across the U.S., according to the press release.
White Castle, which owns and operates about 340 restaurants, has also been opening more restaurant locations, including new units in Phoenix and Orlando, per the press release. It is one of many chains expanding technological capabilities with drive-thru voice AI, robots that can cook fries and a gamified, tiered rewards program.
