Uber Eats and OpenTable will launch their integrated partnership in the fall, with the addition of a “Dine Out” tab in Uber’s app, the delivery aggregator said Wednesday in a press release for its annual Go-Get product release event. In March, the companies initially announced their partnership, framing it as a way to give restaurants new ways to grow revenue, drive customer engagement and attract new guests.
The Dine Out feature will be available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia. Uber Eats customers will be able to use the app to find dine-in deals, book reservations and plan a ride, a spokesperson wrote in an email to Restaurant Dive. Uber One members will also receive priority access for reservations at popular restaurants. After reserving a table, customers receive a discount for an Uber ride to the restaurant.
OpenTable members will also be able to use their points toward Uber and Uber Eats, the spokesperson said. OpenTable VIPs, guests who book and honor 12 reservations within a 12-month period, in select markets will also receive a six-month free trial of Uber One.
A focus on in-restaurant dining could help drive further engagement on Uber Eats, which posted gross booking growth of over 18% year over year during the first quarter due to an increase in grocery and retail mix and membership growth. Uber Eats also partners with Instacart to offer Instacart’s customers access to restaurant delivery.
