Dive Insight:
Perkins breakfast value menu aligns with the ongoing trend of chains offering discounted or affordable menu items. The prices make it competitive with other breakfast casual chains breakfast deals. Denny’s offers a scrambled eggs and cheddar breakfast with two bacon strips, two sausage links and two pancakes starting at $7.99. IHOP’s 2x2x2, which offers two eggs, two strips of bacon or sausage and two buttermilk pancakes, costs roughly $10 depending on location.
“We want to be known for everyday value,” Perkins President Toni Ronayne said in a June interview. “Value is so important in the marketplace right now. So [we’re] thinking about what the right combos or bundles are in order to support guests being able to feel really good about having a nice full plate … with high quality food at an affordable price.”
The company’s menu innovation will continue over the next six months, particularly targeting the dinner menu. The chain is working with The Culinary Edge to do a full menu review. Management is also considering ways to bring the bakery and restaurant together, like incorporating bakery items with its food menu.
