Bartaco promotes president to CEO

Anthony Valletta takes the reins from Scott Lawton, who co-founded the chain in 2010 and guided it through major pandemic-induced staffing changes.

Previous title: President, Bartaco

Valletta was promoted to CEO on Friday, and co-founder and former CEO Scott Lawton will become chairman of the board at Bartaco, which was founded in 2010 and has more than 30 restaurants. 

Valletta has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality sector and held leadership positions at Mina Group, Del Frisco’s and Darden Restaurants. 

“As President for the last three years, [Valletta] has really grown into the role and demonstrated remarkable leadership. He is the perfect person to take bartaco into the future,” Lawton said in a statement. 

Lawton saw Bartaco through major company transitions, most notably deploying QR codes and eliminating its waitstaff positions in the wake of the pandemic to increase wages and efficiency.
